Father Gary Braun has been a priest of the Archdiocese of St. Louis for over 30 years. Born in 1951 in St. Louis, Missouri, Father Gary was ordained for service to the Church of St. Louis in 1977. After serving in four different parishes throughout the Archdiocese, he was invited by Archbishop May to be Director of the Newman Center at Washington University in St. Louis in May 1991. In 1994, Archbishop Rigali appointed him to be director of all campus ministers for the Archdiocese of St. Louis. Fr. Gary is particularly fond of cake icing
John is originally from Elkhart, IN and graduated from Purdue University in 1996. John moved to St. Louis in 1997 to work for McDonnell Douglas Aerospace which became The Boeing Company. John earned his Masters degree in Computer Science from Washington University in St. Louis in 2002. John is married to Arianne Aughey and has 3 daughters, Carolyn (9), Eleanor (7), and Abigail (5). John built the onlinehomilies.com system in 2001 and continues to operate it serving audio and video of the CSC homilies to over 500,000 people. John is a member of The National Prestigious Society of Collegiate Jugglers at WashU.
Cathy Deneault has been part of the Catholic Student Center Community since 1998 and joined the CSC staff as Pastoral Administrator since August of 2006. Cathy is in charge of managing the office, coordinating marriage preparation, weddings and baptisms, and sacramental preparation of school age children of the community. Before joining the staff of the CSC, Cathy taught 2nd grade at a local Catholic elementary school. Cathy has three grown sons and eight grandchildren.
Linda Domeyer has been attending the Catholic Student Center since she was a freshman at Washington University in 1988, back when the entire group of involved students could comfortably hold hands around the altar during the eucharistic prayer. The CSC meant so much to her as a college student the she is delighted to be in service to the community as the Director of Advancement, where she has served since 2001. Linda oversees annual giving, special events, grant writing, major gifts and planned giving. Even while doing all of that, Linda loves to hear from the students about how they are searching for God in their lives. Linda and her husband, Kevin Leeseberg, have two sons -- Noah and Micah.
Cynthia Enghauser began working at the CSC in July 2010. Prior to working at the CSC, Cynthia obtained her MA in Pastoral Ministry (Spirituality and Justice Concentration) from the Boston College School of Theology and Ministry. While attending Boston College, Cynthia also served as a Graduate Assistant for the Office of Campus Ministry, working with small faith sharing groups, the Kairos retreat program and the Arrupe International Immersion Program. Cynthia has previously worked at Corpus Christi University Parish serving students of her alma mater, the University of Toledo where she earned her BA in English Literature and Law & Social Thought. Cynthia was born and raised in the great state of Ohio and has two younger sisters, Krista and Lindsey.
Cynthia is excited about working at the CSC, and hopes to engage students in their passion for social justice and create a community rooted in awareness and action toward the injustices that challenge our society and the whole of creation. Cynthia is personally passionate about issues of injustice surrounding the enviornment/sustainability and its intersection with poverty, access to education and women & gender issues. She also coordinates Freshmen Orientation/Outreach events and the Awakening Retreat. Feel free to stop by her office anytime for a chat, talking with students is far and away her favorite part of the job!
When not working at the CSC or writing about herself in the third person, Cynthia enjoys hanging out with her husband Brandon and their dog Lucy. She also enjoys reading copiously, writing sporadically, long division, going to the occasional concert, knitting, cupcakes and bike riding.
Deacon Phil was born in Hawaii in 1945 and has lived in St. Louis most of his life. He and his wife, Mary, were married in 1967 and have two married daughters (Amy & Bridget) and an adorable grandchild (Rose). Phil got his Masters in Social Work from Wash U. in 1971. He is the Director of the Office of Child and Youth Protection for the Archdiocese and he maintains a part-time psychotherapy private practice. At the CSC, Deacon Phil prepares couples for marriage and witnesses their vows, (with the indispensable help of his wife.) He usually assists at the 11:00 Liturgy on Sunday and, upon request, baptizes babies after mass.
Angela Kress is a Michigan native that graduated from Wash U in May of 2012 with a B.A. in Architecture. As an undergraduate she loved to use the CSC as a quiet refuge from her crazy architecture studios. Despite her heavy academic involvement, she challenged herself to make service a priority. Her sophomore year she traveled to Kenya with the International Service Trip (IST) and returned with a strong passion for urban poverty. She is now pursuing a Masters in Urban Planning and Policy and would like to one day design urban infrastructure for the marginalized. She is absolutely thrilled to be an intern this year and loves talking with students. In her spare time she enjoys rock climbing, biking, and looking at pictures of cute puppies on Pintrist.
A 2011 graduate from Xavier University, Chris is excited to serve as an intern here at the CSC this year. Last year, Chris taught freshmen theology and assisted moderate Student Government at De Smet Jesuit High School in Creve Couer, MO. He loves genuine conversation and getting to know people's story. Chris also enjoys bicycling, improv, Ultimate, nature, yoga, and hugs.
Currently employed as a maintenance man at the CSC, I am responsible for maintaining a comfortable environment for liturgical and social gatherings. I enjoy reading, cycling, travel, music, and interaction with students; if I can be of service, please call on me.
Joe Schoen is SUPER excited to join the amazing CSC community! For the past seven years, he has been the director of music for St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Hazelwood, Mo. He has degrees in journalism and music education. This fall, Joe will be the new music teacher at Tillman School in the Kirkwood School District. He was born and raised in St. Louis and graduated from Vianney High School, for all of those obsessed with the St. Louis tradition of asking "where did you go to high school?" Joe has had some amazing opportunities over the past 10 years, reporting and anchoring the news for a tv station in Dennison, Texas; traveling around the world as a lead vocalist for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and musical directing professional and amateur musical theatre productions all around St. Louis and beyond. When not making music, he is an avid fan of boating, skiing, relaxing by the pool and good food with great friends! He looks forward to meeting all the students and members of the CSC community!
Matt Schwab has been a member of the CSC community since arriving as a freshman at Wash U in 2008. During his time as an undergrad, Matt was a member of the International Service Trip teams to Peru and Belize as well as a member of Wash U's cross country and track teams. In May, he graduated with a degree in Philosophy-Neuroscience-Psychology and is currently applying to medical school. Matt is very excited to be interning at the CSC this year and looks forward to connecting with students, growing in his faith, and giving back to the community.
Jamey Stegmaier has been a part of the Catholic Student Center community for 8 years, originally as a work-study student and then as a parishioner. He rejoined the CSC team in November of 2007 as the Director of Operations. His primary responsibilities include supervising the CSC staff, managing the day-to-day operations of the Center, overseeing the budget and finances, and coordinating with the development team. Before working at the CSC, Jamey was a Project Manager and Team Leader at SPi, a publishing services company. When he's not working, Jamey enjoys writing, reading, playing sports (specifically soccer, football, and frisbee), and spending quality time with his cat. He's excited to be a member of the CSC staff, and welcomes anyone to stop by to chat or give input about the Center.
Sr. Linda Straub graduated with a degree in Mathematics from Fontbonne College, received a MA in Theology from St. Johns in Collegeville, Minnesota, and interned in spiritual direction in Burlingame, California. Linda taught seven years of junior high, taught eleven years of high school religion, served three years as a pastoral associate, was vocation and formation director for the Sisters of Saint Joseph for seven years, and spent a year on sabbatical in California. Contact her for information regarding RCIA and Spiritual direction. Sr. Linda loves going to lunch with students and meeting for coffee or froyo, or just to talk contact her anytime.
Michelle Verner is one of the new Campus Ministry Interns this year and is brand new to the Wash U CSC community. She graduated in 2011 from SLU with a degree in theological studies and is very excited to have this opportunity to get to know the school on the other side of Forest Park. While at SLU, Michelle developed a passion for community, social justice, and spirituality, and she can't wait to get involved with students at the CSC who are interested in or passionate about social justice issues in St. Louis (or anywhere in the world!). She loves random deep conversations (especially about theology), playing cards/games, playing soccer, drinking coffee, and speaking Spanish.

Troy Woytek has been a campus minister at the CSC since August 2005. He also served as an intern at the CSC in 2004/2005 while completing his M.A. in Pastoral Studies degree at Aquinas Institute of Theology in St. Louis. Troy earned his B.A from the University of New Mexico in Anthropology/Archaeology and he pursued graduate studies in Classical Archaeology before deciding to change directions and study theology in pursuit of making a career out of ministry. Troy is also a certified Spiritual Director, receiving his certification in 2009. Troy loves working with college students in campus ministry and is excited about the endless potential and energy that college students bring to this world and our church. In his spare time Troy loves studying and reading and talking about theology, but he is also a sports fanatic. Troy plays Ultimate Frisbee competitively at a regional and national level and is interested in joining most any other type of sports team. Troy is originally from Denver, Colorado and he has two brothers, one older (Steve) and one younger (Sean) and has four nephews Drew, Brett, & David & John. Troy got married to his beautiful wife Emma on December 29th, 2007. Emma and Troy have a 2 year old daughter named Felicity and a one year old son named Michael. Troy serves as the Campus Minister for the Medical Campus and St. Louis College of Pharmacy. He is the Grad Student/Young Adult campus minister as well. He also helps coordinate many weekly programs for undergrads such as Bible studies & faith sharing groups and he coordinates the Intern in service program at the CSC. Most of all Troy loves hanging out with students so feel free to contact him anytime.
Mark is a native St. Louisan and a Wash U grad of 2008. On September 19, 2009, he married his wonderful wife, Becca, at the CSC. Since graduating from Wash U, Mark has enjoyed coaching and counseling men recently released from prison and accompanying them in their journeys as they work to find their place in the world, make changes in their lives, discover who they are, and wrestle with how to be the person they want to be. Now, he is now pursuing an M.A. in Pastoral Studies at Aquinas Institute of Theology in the hopes of growing his ability to walk with people in their life journeys. More than anything else, Mark LOVES vulnerable relationships and craves deep, intentional conversations about life and faith! He also enjoys card games, board games, volleyball, basketball, running, biking ... really anything active or competitive! He is also an avid proponent of high fives and hugs.
