Gala 2014 - A Harvest of Blessings!
In less than 3 months, we will be having a great time at Harvest of Blessings: Newman Gala 2014. The CSC is shaking it up by moving downtown to the Four Seasons, adding a comedy act to the night and finishing the whole evening with a rip roaring good time of Dueling Piano's with Minneapolis Howling at the Moon star Kevin Gale.
At the dueling piano show, YOU can request any song from any genre. The performers can cover hundreds of artists, from Elton John, to Macklemore, to Journey, and everything in between. Two piano players, two keyboards, one drum set, and a whole lot of fun. Make it a dance party by requesting songs like, "YMCA" or "The Cupid Shuffle," or make it a sing-a-long night by requesting "Piano Man" or "Friends in Low Places." You request it, they'll play it!
2014-15 Winter Break Service Immersion Trip
On December 30th, 2013, nine students from the Catholic Student Center (CSC) at Washington University in St. Louis traveled to El Salvador for the CSC's annual winter break service immersion trip. Our team name is "Agape", as we hoped to embody the selfless, self-emptying love that the word signifies.
We worked with two organizations - Project FIAT and CEBES FUNDAHMER - to love and serve the people of El Salvador, to share in life with them, to live in solidarity, and to learn their stories.
Through this experience of service, immersion, learning, and wrestling with the systemic issues of politics, economics, history, culture, and religion that contribute to people's current way of life, we hope that our time there was not simply 11 days of service, but an experience that transforms our lives into a lifetime of love and service.
We will never forget the faith, courage, hope, and love of our dear friends in El Salvador. What we have experienced in them has touched our lives forever.
11 days... 9 students... 1 life-changing experience!
This coming year, we're headed to Puebla, Mexico! Don't worry, you'll be home for Christmas... and I suppose we'll make sure you're back before classes start.
For more info, talk to Mark (email@example.com). You almost certainly won't regret taking the plunge. And you definitely won't come back the same...
