Kindling the Dream -- construction begins December 2005!

Building for the Community of Faith

Over the last fifteen years the Catholic Student Center (CSC) community has grown from 45 to over 1200 active students, generating national media attention. With this astounding growth, the CSC can no longer meet the space demands for liturgy and programming. Student needs exceed what the present facility can provide.

Although the number of students served by the Catholic Student Center has increased over 2000%, the facilities that house the programs and staff are the same as they were when the Newman Center moved to its current location in the 1960's. Our comprehensive renovation plan will add almost 4100 square feet to resolve three priority needs:

• increased chapel seating and space

• a community gathering space

• student counseling and office space

Assuring the Future of the Catholic Student Center

Endowment Goal: $4.0 Million

Mission and Ministry Endowment Goal: $2.5 million
This on-going effort will create an endowment to provide for the future of the mission and ministries of the Newman apostolate at Washington University. This endowment will provide for opportunities such as retreats, theological and moral education, international and local service experiences, vocation descernment and preparation, medical school ministry, leadership formation and library development.

Chair of Catholic Studies Goal: $1.5 million
$1.5 million of the goal has already been given to establish the Stella Koetter Darrow Chair of Catholic Studies at Washington University.

Providing for Today

Annual Fund Goal: $2.4 Million (over 5 years)

Over the next five years, the CSC needs to raise $2.4 million to sustain our annual giving base. Donors who make an investment in the Annual Fund have the satisfaction of providing a sustainable operations base for the CSC ministry each year.
